Gamewell Boxes at Kansas. The 173 Gamewell police call boxes in Kansas City, Mo., have been fitted with fire alarm devices and it is now possible for a policeman or pedestrain upon the discovery of a fire to send in an alarm without hunting up a telephone. The device consists of a square box with glass front in which the mechanism is installed. Connected with the device is a key. Breaking the glass gives access to the key, and by turning it the alarm is transmitted to central police station and is immediately sent to fire department stations by telephone. Just as soon as the police and fire alarm apparatus is installed in a tower to be built on one corner of the new market house building at Main and Fourth streets, 100 more street poles will be fitted out with police and fire alarm boxes.
