To Increase the Supply of Toledo. The Toledo (O.) Capital of the 7th instant says: To supply Topeka with more water, the water department has changed the channel of the Kaw river. The water channel, which was out in the river bed away from the pumping station pipes, has been brought up close to the south bank near the pumping station so that the water will flow over the points where the supply is drawn from the river in case of emergency. Recently when the water supply was low, there was a considerable danger from fires in the city owing to the fact that the pumping station pipes sunken in the Kaw river were so covered with sand that the enginecould hardly pump from the river.
