Pumping Engine Notes. E. R. Townsend, chief engineer has recommended that a high service pump of 4,000,000 gallons’ capacity be installed at Winona, Minn. The two new electrically driven pumps of 4,000,000 gallons capacity each recently installed at Montgomery, Ala., have been successfully tested. At Akron, O., the cast side residents were without water the other day owing to the blowing out of a joint on the discharge of a Tod pump which caused it to be shut down. Hennebique & Co., of New York, who arc building the ocean pier at Long Branch, N. J., have installed a new high pressure pump on the beach. The pump has a capacity of 1,000 gallons a minute. Considerable trouble has been experienced with the pumping engine at the Poplar river station, Lebanon, Pa. E. A. Weimer, a consulting engineer has been employed by the city to locate where it is.
