Meterage. Marshall, Tex., has installed another lot of water meters, making in all about 200 now in use. An order for 300 more meters has been placed. This will leave about 200 more consumers without meters. The Dalton, Ga., waterworks system will be thoroughly metered. At present, a flat annual rate is charged for water, no matter how much is used, and consequently there has been a great deal of waste, and although the meters will cost thousands of dollars, the commissioners believe it will solve the problem of an inadequate water supply which has frequently menaced the city in the past. Water Commissioner Fassett. of Spokane, has introduced an ordinance, which is to put all new water connections strictly on the meter basis.
