Fire Protection in Fort Wayne. Fort Wayne, Ind., factories have the best fire protection in the middle west. There is not a city, no matter how large, in which the workers in the factory and shop buildings are better pro tccted against death by fire and in which the manufacturers are better protected from loss of property. It is the general arrangement of fire protection, public and private, and the great at tention paid to it, that has made this condition of affairs a possibility. The city and the manufacturers have worked together, and the result is almost perfect protection, at least during the hours in which the factories are working. Prob ably the best organized manufactory in the city is the General Electric Company. Every employe —every girl who enters the factory to work—is made to sign a paper stating whether or not she will participate in the fire…
