St. Louis Must Have New Water System. Edward F. Wall, water commissioner at St Louis, Mo., in a recent address before the League of Electrical Interests of thata city strongly advocated the construction of a new waterworks, and estimated its cost would approximate $20,000,000. He said if economy were used in the consumption of water throughout the city he thought possibly the present waterworks system would suffice for ten or fifteen years, but that if water is wasted it is likely St. Louis some time may face a water famine. “St. Louisans should eliminate the waste in the use of their water,” said Wall, “and at any rate, should at once begin the construction of a new waterworks.
