No Discrimination in Rates at Macon

Issue 25 and Volume 51.

No Discrimination in Rates at Macon Commissioner W. A. Huff has notified the other two members of the Macon. Ga., city water board that he will apply to the courts for an injunction to stop the sale of water to manufacturing consumers at 6 cents per 1,000 gallons. “Rather than give the city’s water away to the wealthy class, while poor people are charged 30 cents for the same quantity, I am going to enjoin myself,” is the declaration of Commissioner Huff. It has been calculated that it costs 7 cents to distill and distribute the water, but the other two members decline to raise the manufacturers’ rate or to reduce the charge for small consumers.
