Fire Department Doings The estimated losses by fire in the United States and Canada, reported for the week ending July 1, amounted to $6,481,000. Chicago Heights, Ill., has successfully tested a new Ahrens-Fox steamer. H. W. Fulton has been reappointed chief of the department at Boise, Idaho. During May the loss of Springfield, Ill., amounted to $780,414 for 440 fires. The aeroplane will form a feature in some forthcoming firemen’s tournaments. Under Chief Johnson the work ot fire prevention has greatly progressed in Superior. Wis. The fire loss at Rockford, Ill., during 1911 amounted to $81,907, a per capita loss of $3.27. The Citizens’ Fire Engine Company of Mechanicsburg, Pa., recently celebrated its eighth anniversary. Lieut. M. A.
