INTERESTING DISPLAY OF WATERWORKS TOOLS A large and interesting display of modern waterworks appliances was made by the A. P. Smith Manufacturing Company, at the convention of the American Waterworks Association at Louisville, the specialities being connected up as in actual service in a waterworks system. A length of 12-inch pipe was shown, and to it were made a 6-inch and a 4-inch connection, illustrating the use of the Smith special tapping machine, by which any size connections are made to any size mains without shutting off the water supply. Directly from where the 6-inch valve was connected to the 12-inch pipe was a piece of 6-inch pipe showing lateral for hydrant connection, and on the curb line was shown a 6-inch special lnth end valve such as has been adopted by the city of New York as its standard and also by St. Louis as its standard for all…
