To Buy Water from Mineola For the first time in the history of Long Island, one municipality, East Williston” N. Y., will purchase water from another—Mineola. For a considerable period East Williston has been planning to establish a water district and build a waterworks plant. It has been found, however, that the commissioners can get water at a much cheaper rate by buying it from the municipal plant at Mineola. They have, therefore, entered into a five-year contract with that town to supply East Williston at the rate of 4 cents per 1,000 gallons, and will guarantee the use of $400 worth of water per year. If the village were to install a waterworks plant at present, the commissioners claim it would be years before the district was out of debt, as together with the purchase of the land it would cost the community between $25,000 and $30,000.
