A Galt Fire Galt, Ont., will have to improve at least its water works system if its citizens desire to cope with any fire that is beyond the ordinary run. They will have to lay to heart the lesson that it is always the unexpected that happens, and has to be guarded against. For which reason the water pressure should be kept fully up to the mark night and day, or if no higher pressure can be obtained than ruled early in the morning of October 1, the necessary steps should at once be taken to better it in the accustomed way, even if it does cost money. The necessary amount to increase it would be far more advantageously spent on insuring the citizens proper protection against costly fires, such as that which gutted the large three-story building of the Galt Rope Company on Water street—a misnomer on that occasion,…
