Extensive Improvements at Steubenville A correspondent at Steubenville, writes this journal that the water works system is receiving a general overhauling. He says: “We have installed four new boilers of the return tubular pattern, 72 x 16, and 125-horsepower each. The two 3,000,000 gallon pumps have been thoroughly repaired and arc now in first class condition. These are E. P. Allis vertical compound engines, and were installed in 1894. They have been in constant service since that date, and it is expected the overhauling will make them as good as new. A bond issue of $200,000 was made to cover this work, and to purchase 108 acres on hill top, known as Bustard barm, to be used for a filtration plant and park; also for two new pumps to pump from the present high pressure reservoir to the standpipe on La Belle View.
