THE FUTURE OF MOTOR FIRE APPARATUS The subject upon which a paper has been requested from me is one that should be of great interest to all those who have anything to do with fire department work. The future of motor fire apparatus is only problematical as regards the prime mover—the mode of actuating the engine that shall furnish the power. Unquestionably the horse is to be supplanted at an early period, and we can now prractically rest assured that most of the details are settled and the only possible doubt is as to whether a more successful motive power than gasoline may not be developed. The prime object of the existence of a fire department is to answer an alarm of fire as quickly as possible and promptly use such means and methods as it may have available for extinguishing the fire with the least possible loss.
