METERAGE Joliet, Ill., is recommended so to install meters that all services may be metered within five years. On February 6 the old rate of $1.25 per month now paid by the Rock Island, Ia., Railroad Company, will be discontinued and meter rates adopted. At Pullman, Wash., all persons living outside of the corporate limits must now have meters installed and pay a minimum charge of $1.50 per month, if they use city water. The Merchants’ and Manufacturers’ Association of Baltimore, has endorsed the proposition of Chief Engineer Whitman, of the city’s water department for a system 01 water rates based upon consumption as determined by meters. At Wilmington, Del., the applications for the installation of two meters have been rejected bccause it was proposed to set them inside the cellar instead of at the curb.
