Chief Yates to Enforce Fire Law in Schenectady Following the transfer of all matters relating to the enforcement of the State fire law from the office of the building inspector in Schenectady, N. Y., to the office of the fire chief. Henry K. Yates, Commisioner of Public Safety John E. Cole has issued an official statement indicating upon what lines the officials will proceed. The commissioner’s statement was drawn up after a conference with State Fire Marshal Thomas Ahearn. The statement is in part as follows: “Fire escapes shall be located on the following buildings: Buildings oi three or more stories used as hotels, boarding houses, tenement houses and business blocks, whether occupied as stores, workrooms or storehouses, as long as there are any stories above the second floor.
