Philadelphia Firemen in New York College Director of Public Safety Porter of Philadelphia has taken the initial step toward decreasing, by property inspectors, the enormous annual economic waste from fire, by appointing a committee of firemen to pass a week in New York under direction of Chief Guerin, of the New York Fire Prevention Bureau. The party, consists of Captain J. S. Clinton, of Engine Company No. 48; George McDowell, Forest N. Brewer, W illiam J. Curry, Daniel W. Beswinger and James F. Ford. The action of the director was the result of an investigation, lasting three months, by the Philadelphia Fire Prevention Commission, of which Powell Evans is chairman.
