Fire Department of Catskill The fire department of Catskill, N. Y., is purely volunteer and consists of four hose companies, one hook and ladder company and a steamer company. Of these the oldest and best known is the Citizens’ Hose Company, No. 5, conspicuous for the white uniform worn by its members and its $5,000 silver-mounted parade carriage. A few weeks ago was organized the Boomptjes Hook Hose Company, specially intended for the protection of property at the steamboat landing on Catskill Point. The twenty-fifth annual convention of the Hudson Valley Volunteer Firemen’s Association will meet in Catskill on June 17-19. In that village 26 years ago the Greene County Firemen’s Association was organized. The next year it became the Tri-County Association, which later on formed the nucleus of the present Hudson Valley Association, comprising the counties of Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Rensselaer, Rockland, Saratoga, Sullivan, Ulster and…
