FIRE DEPARTMENT IN BIG NEW YORK PARADE Twelve thousand city employes, representing city departments; 13 bands and 558 vehicles, including trucks, floats, ambulances and exhibits of the most modern apparatus now used in the protection of the city, and a line of march six and a half miles long, marked last Saturday’s parade as the most remarkable demonstration of city effi- ciency ever held in America. The line of march was from Washington Arch north on f’iftli avenue to 59 th street, west in 59th street to Broadway, and then up Broadway to 8(ith street. 1 he head of the column started moving at 1 o’clock and reached the reviewing stand in front of the Public Library, which held Mayor Layimi and other city officials, soon after 1.30 o’clock.
