Value of the Reading Water Works System The forty-eighth annual report of the board of water commissioners of Reading, Pa., shows that the gross value of the city’s water works system is $4,098,183.94, upon which there is a debt of $708,000. making the net value of the system $3,390,183.94. Its receipts from all sources during the year amounted to $262,085.75. exceeding those of the previous year by $14,815.73. The receipts from fixture rates exceeded those of the year before by $6,407.97; those from metered consumers were $3,142.20 more than they were in the preceding 12 months. The interest of every inhabitant of Reading in the water works system amounts to $33.56—82 rents above what it was in the year hefore.
