Report of the Davenport Fire Department Peter Denger, chief of the fire department at Davenport, Ia., reports 352 fire alarms during the year ending March 31, 1913, of which number 12 were false. The total loss was $36.465, of which $22,776 was on buildings and $13,688 was on contents. There was $750,950 insurance carried, of which $581,925 was on buildings and $169,025 was on contents. The payroll for the year was $40,253, and the grand total paid out for the department aggregated $54,760. The total valuation of the fire department property is placed at $150,125. There are nine companies, with a total membership of 45 men, all full paid. Three pieces of motor apparatus were bought, at a cost of $16,275, to replace two old hose wagons and city service truck.
