Firestone Wins Four More Races The first week in July added more race laurels to the already well filled victory list of Firestone tires. The Panama-Pacific Road Race from Los Angeles to Sacramento, 443.6 miles, July 4, was a Firestone victory. Verbeck in a Fiat won; Waterman in a Buick, second; and Oldfield in a Fiat, third. All three used Firestone tires, and the first and second cars never changed attire during the race. On July 8 the Firestone Company received a telegram from their Seattle manager, reading as follows: “During the Montanaro Festo at Tacoma, Wash., races were held on July 5 and 7. Three different events were scheduled. The first race was 10b miles, the second 200 miles and the third 260 miles. Firestone tires were on all the winning cars of the three events.
