Water Works News The recent issue of $20,000 bonds for water works improvement at Belton, Tex., have been sold at par. one of the local banks being the purchaser. The engineering contract has been awarded to M. H. Lenard, of Austin. Councilman G. B. Healy, who is in charge of the water works and parks of Sioux City, Iowa, has recently visited Duluth, Minn., to study the Duluth water and park systems, and will later have a conference with the Duluth commissioners. So serious has the demand for water become in some of the towns in Kansas that armed guards are maintained to prevent the cutting of the dams that retain supplies for Independence and other places on the upper parts of the Verdigris River.
