WATER WORKS NEWS ITEMS GENERAL DEPARTMENT NEWS The village of Halton, Kan., is buying land for a city water plant. Rocky Mount, Va., is expending $50,000 on a water and light system. The extension to the water works of Madison, S. D., will cost $62,000. Lucas, Kan., is constructing a reservoir with a capacity of 100,000 gallons. The city of Pullman, Wash., will have a new water supply from artesian wells. The water plant of Fort Worth, Tex., has a capacity of 1,000,000 gallons a day. The old wooden mains in Nampa, Idaho, are being replaced by 0-inch iron mains. Imnrovements and additions to the water plant in Freeport, Ill., have been completed. The water supply in Joliet, Ill., has been largely increased. The system gets its water from artesian wells. The water commissioner of Topeka, Kan., has promised to cut the rates before the end of the present year.…
