The Mueller Company’s Coon Hunt GENERAL NEWS ARTICLE The tenth annual coon hunt of the Mueller Company was pulled off recently at a point eight miles northeast of Decatur, Ill., on the heavily timbered lowlands of the Sangamon River. It was a great event, and the big bunch of hunters had a rip-roaring time, which had been unconditionally guaranteed them beforehand. The guarantee was made good, of course, even to the catching of one coon and one possum. The coon led the dogs a long and merry chase, and finally sought refuge in the uppermost branches of a tall hickory tree, from which he was shaken by a climber. The crowd had formed a big circle around the waiting dogs and when Mr. Coon hit the ground the fun commenced.
