Kirksville, Mo., Fire Department The fire department of Kirksville, Mo., of which H. O. McIntosh is chief and Ralph Cross, assistant chief, is composed entirely of volunteers and is one of the most efficient departments of its size in the State. During the past year there were 36 alarms, and all the fires were quickly extinguished with a very small loss. The city, which is four miles square and sparsely inhabited, is protected by a water system and 67 hydrants. Chief McIntosh has been a member of the department 18 years and chief 10 years.
