FIRE DEPARTMENT DOINGS Chief Chris. O’Brien, of Shreveport, La., is on a honeymoon trip. The Vigilant Fire Company, of Great Neck, N. Y., has more officers than privates. To stop false alarms, keyless doors for alarm boxes are being installed at Malden, Mass. Lowell, Mass., is renumbering its fire alarm boxes, so that they will be in uniform order. Canton, O., will construct eight cisterns in us principal business street for additional hre protection. Natchez, Miss., firemen have raised a fund to purchase Christmas gifts for orphans and poor children. The position of drill master has been created at Paterson, N. J., and Captain John Webber has been assigned to that position. The State fire marshal of Illinois says that the Rockford fire department is one of the best equipped and conducted in the Mate.
