Fire Report of Chicopee A recommendation for a new fire station and the purchase of two motor machines every year until the whole department is equipped with motor apparatus are the principal features of the annual report of Chief John E. Pomphret, of Chicopee, Mass., presented last week. The year, according to the report, has been characterized by an unusually large number of fires, the total number of alarms was 312. The most serious fire of the year was that in Willimansett, on July 6. when the Prew Coal Company’s yards and the Brown Facing Company’s factory were damaged to the extent of over $14,000. Of the 312 alarms 99 were bell, six false. 152 telephone and one thermostat. The value of property endangered amounted to nearly $313,000, the insurance on the property being over $260,000. The loss on buildings amounted to approximately $25,000 and on contents $20,540.
