Holyoke Fire Report The annual report of the Holyoke, Mass., fire department shows that during the year the department was called to 469 fires, the net loss per fire after insurance had been paid was $3.63. The loss on buildings by fire during the year was $42,993, with a loss on contents estimated at $16,296. Insurance amounting to $78,587 was paid. The total loss by fire was $45,432 less than a year ago. Of the total number of fires, 80 were set by boys. The commissioners recommend for the coming year a new engine house in ward 1 ; that five new men be added to the department; the putting in of a new fire alarm equipment, the purchase of 3,000 feet of 2 1/2-inch hose and the appropriation of $10,000 for automobile equipment for the Ward 1 engine house.
