Large Fire at Fayetteville, Ark.

Large Fire at Fayetteville, Ark. With a loss estimated at $50,000, a part of the business section of Fayetteville, Ark., was swept by fire on January 15. The Van Winkle, and several other business blocks were destroyed. The cause of the fire is unknown. It started on the third floor of an office building about 11 p. m., and burned among a lot of frame buildings until the following noon. The volunteer fire department was handicapped by the low pressure of the water. Their streams barely reached the second story of the burning buildings and that they were able to prevent the fire from sweeping the whole village is considered almost a miracle. It was one of the coldest nights of the season, but the department accomplished everything that human ingenuity could accomplish.
