Toronto Fire Report Fire Chief Thompson, of Toronto, Can., in his annual report submitted to the Board of Control last week, says that “during the year the department responded to 2,019 alarms; this exceeds the number that have occurred in any one year in the history of the department, being 349 more than that of last year.” The total loss by fire during the year amounted to $924,675; this is $187,808.89 less than the year previous. This is made up as follows: Loss on buildings, $308,817; loss on contents, $615,857; total loss on buildings and contents, $924,675; insurance on buildings, $2,521,695; insurance on contents, $3,392,605; total insurance, $5,914,300; insurance paid on buildings, $264,768; insurance paid on contents, $521,129; total insurance paid on buildings and contents, $785,898; loss over insurance paid on buildings and contents, $85,999.98; loss on buildings with no insurance, $9,619; loss on contents with no insurance, $43,158.
