Fire Alarm Telegraph Chief Fire Commissioner Adamson has appointed Putnam A. Bates chief of the fire telegraph bureau of New York to succeed Leonard Day, who recently resigned. Mr. Bates was graduated from the School of Mines at Columbia in 1897 with the degree of electrical engineer. He designed the lighting and heating plant of the Engineers’ Club, and was consulting engineer in the planning of the building erected at Hartford by the late J. P. Morgan in memory of his father. He is a member of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, the Engineers’ Club and the University Club.
