Adamson on Fire Prevention Although Robert Adamson has been Fire Commissioner of New York only two months, he has formed the opinion that fire prevention is the one great object toward which his attention will be directed more than to any other. Like all of his predecessors, he sees the enormous destruction by fire in this city and then turns his attention to the large cities of Europe for a comparison. The great difference at once convinces the commissioner that New York’s fire loss is too large, and to cut it down naturally appeals to him as the proper thing to do.
