Chief Quigley Appointed to State Position Chief John P. Quigley, of Syracuse, N. Y., was, on April 2, appointed an inspector of the division of industrial hygiene of the State Department of Labor by Commissioner J. M. Lynch, with a salary of $3,500 a year. The inspectors of the division are required to have technical knowledge of the subjects relating to sanitary and hygienic conditions of factories and mercantile establishments and construction, ventilation, heating and other matters. They will be in Albany and New York the larger part of the time, but may be called to all sections of the State where questions requiring their supervision arise. In a recent examination for the position, Chief Quigley, without any special preparation, received a rating in third position. He will receive a pension of $1,500 a year from the city on his retirement as chief of the department. He has not decided…
