FILTRATION Work on the Citizens’ Water Company’s filtration plant at Quincy, Ill., is nearing completion. Pennsylvania State medical inspectors were sent to Embreeville, Chester County, to determine the cause of an outbreak of typhoid fever there. The water supply is being examined. Commissioner O. H. Wells, of Huntington, W. Va., has forwarded samples of water from various wells in the city to the West Virginia University for bacteriological examination, it being feared some of the wells are unhealthful. The Ohio State Board of Health has declared that an analysis of samples of the Sebring, O., water supply indicate the water is polluted and unsafe for domestic use without purification. A water purification plant has been suggested. A lecture and demonstration of the manner in which water is treated and filtered in Columbus, O., was recently given at Steubenville, O., which is to have a filtration plant of the same character…
