New York Firemen Receive Medals Mayor Mitchel of New York, on June 24, at 11 A. M., on the City Hall plaza presented to members of the fire department the ten department medals awarded for the year of 1913. It was one of the hottest, humid days of the season and several thousands of people were present. Headed by the Fire Department band, the men, to whom the medals were awarded, marched up to the plaza. Behind them came the honor battalion, composed of men who had been awarded medals in previous years. The men passed in review hefore the Mayor. Fire Commissioner Adamson and other city officials. After coming to a halt and standing at attention, Commissioner Adamson delivered an address in which he stated the men to whom medals had been awarded typified the department.
