FIRE PREVENTION IN SCHOOLS. The elaboration of the existing fire prevention methods in the New York City public schools which has been approved by Fire Department officials, is proof that the fire drills and other protective measures were adopted wisely and that they have proved their value. In this matter the Board of Education and the Fire Department have acted hand in hand and the new set of rules to be placed in force afford a concrete example of their labors. These rules include a variety of regulations calculated to prevent fires in school houses and also measures to be adopted in the event of fires and that it is the intention to make these safety measures as effective as it is possible to do is evident from the proposal to place an official of the Board of Education in immediate special direction of rapid dismissals, etc., throughout the city’s…
