Demonstration of Fire Appliances at San Francisco Exposition There was a demonstration of the fire service appliances at the San Francisco, Cal., Exposition building on August 28, under the direction of Chief T. R. Murphy, for the benefit of chiefs and others en route to the annual convention of the Pacific Coast Chiefs Association, held last week at Victoria, B. C. Among those present were Chiefs R. B. Hawcroft, of Reno, Nev,; M. D. Murphy, of Stockton; J. Snyder, of Riverside; J. G. Wintermute, of Fresno, and Chief J. E. Shrewsbury, of Long Beach. Also assistant Chief G. H. O’Donnell, of Los Angeles. A large number of people saw the demonstration. Among the most interesting feats was the throwing of a two-inch stream from the top of the Tower of Jewels a distance of 435 feet, with a high water pressure of 335 pounds.
