Meter Rates in Iowa Cities In connection with the recent change in Iowa City, Iowa, from a flat water rate to the meter system, the Iowa City Citizen published the meter rates in force in that and in fourteen other cities in the State. The State university’s extension department has taken up the question of rates and is at work figuring out the meter rate in different towns in the State and its final report will not be completed for some time. The figures published in the Citizen were as follows: Iowa City (filtered water system)—100 gallons or less per day, 40c per 1,000 gallons; 100 to 500 gals., 30c; 500 to 1,000 gals., 20c;1,000 to 5,000 gals., 121/2c; 5,000 to 10,000 gals., 10c; 10,000 to 20,000 gals., 9c; 20,000 or more. Sc. Minimum yearly charge, $12. Atlantic (population. 4,560; deep well system)—1.000 to 5,000 gallons used in six months.…
