Warning Devices at Baltimore Baltimore is to place a vibrating gong on an electrical horn at each intersecting street, and through a mechanical device, which is to be operated in fire stations, have them sound a few seconds before the fire apparatus reaches the corner where located. The first gong or horn will be located at Gay and Baltimore streets. The level operating it will be placed in No. 1 Ladder station and when an alarm is received from one of the street boxes in the business district, one of the firemen will pull the lever. The traffic policeman, who is stationed at Baltimore and Gay streets, upon hearing the gong or horn, will be expected to immediately start to clear the street of traffic.
