OBITUARY John W. Holmes. John W. Holmes, of Paducah, Ky., who was for many years superintendent of the Owensboro Water Works Company, died at Frankfort, Ky., November 10, after an accident, while in the discharge of his duties of consulting engineer in the construction portions of the Frankfort water works. Mr. Holmes, who had reached an advanced age, fell into a well at the water plant and fractured his skull, and died three hours later. Mr. Holmes reconstructed the entire plant in 1892-3. Emil Kuichling. Emil Kuichling, civil engineer and expert on water supply, died in New York City, N. Y., on November 9, of apoplexy. He was born at Kehl, Germany, in 1848, and went to Rochester, N. Y., in his early childhood, and spent the greater part of his life there. He graduated at Rochester University in 1868, and at the Technical School, Karlsruhe, in 1872. He was…
