WATER WORKS NEWS ITEMS The total receipts of the New Orleans water department in November were $36,264.65. The plant of the Palmyra (N. Y.) Wate/ Works Co., has been taken over by the city. Herman Watson has resigned as superintendent of the Kalamazoo, Mich., Water Department. In order to make up a $500,000 deficit, St. Louts, Mo., has discharged 500 employees of the water and street departments. Work has commenced at Columbus, Ga., on the water works improvement estimated to cost $100,000. A saving of $24,000 on coal bills has been effected this year by the water board, of Omaha, Neb., over the year before. Philadelphia, Miss., has decided to float a $30,000 bond issue for the installation of a new municipal water works system. To protect the fire hydrants from freezing, Superintendent Martin Conlon, of Ithaca, N. Y., is placing red boxes filled with straw over each of them.…
