METERAGE A bond issue has been authorized at Lorain, O., for the metering of all services. The adoption of a meter system or a reduction in the present schedule of prices, in Newport, R. I., is under consideration. On September 1 of this year, 92 per cent, of the 5,710 services in Superior, Wis., were metered, and the daily per capita consumption was only 54 gallons. New Orleans, La., has now in use over 47,000 meters, serving approximately 63,000 premises, according to the report of Superintendent George G, Earl. The council finance committee of Chicago is soon to take up the proposition of metering all of the services, as advocated by Mayor J. H. Harrison and Commissioner of Public Works L. E. McGann.
