Augusta Annual Report Augusta, Ga., last year, according to the annual report of Chief F. G. Reynolds, had 455 alarms, of which 323 were bell, 122 telephone, 2 verbal and 8 out of city. The loss on buildings and contents was $77,251.19, insurance paid $77,521.19. The weekly inspection of buildings by one of the captains in the business district has given good results and invariably meets with the co-operation of the tenant and property owner. Periodical inspections are also made by the different captains, of hotels, laundries, opera house, moving picture shows, hospitals, manufacturing plants, wholesale warehouses, etc. The report further says: “The gasoline ordinance recently passed by the city council should meet with the approval of every citizen. It is not only a protection for the property owner but a safeguard to the lives of the firemen who come directly in dangerous contact with gasoline fires. I recommend that…
