Two-Platoon Bill for Pittsburgh A bill providing for the two-platoon system for the Pittsburgh, Pa., fire department has been introduced in the Pennsylvania Legislature by Senator William J. Burke, of the North Side, Pittsburgh, who is known as a warm friend of the firemen. When he was a member of City Council he advocated ordinances introduced benefiting friends, especially those relating to salary increase and vacations and others where working conditions were concerned. The bill applies to cities of the second class, which includes Scranton. The bill is as follows: Section 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same.
