Tannery Fire at Albert Lea

Tannery Fire at Albert Lea At Albert Lea, Minn., the Hirsch Robe and Tanning Company and the Albert Lea Hide and Fur Company plant, three stories high, 30 by 200 feet and of wood construction was burned recently with contents with a loss of $60,000. The loss was total. There were a few extinguishers in the building, but no other fire appliances. The fire, from an unknown cause, started on the roof at 9.45 P. M. and when the fire department arrived it had made such headway that it was beyond saving. There were three streams through 1,500 feet of hose from three hydrants 350 feet apart on 6-inch mains, with 80 pounds pressure.
