Death of Simon Brentano Simon Brentano, of New York, who was prominently identified with fire service interests, died at his home in Orange, N. J., February 14 of heart disease after a long illness. He was born in Cincinnati, November 3, 1859, and went to New York when a boy to enter the book store of his uncle, which was established in 1853 in Union Square. With his two brothers, one of whom survive him, he acquired the business in 1877 and was head of the concern until his death. A widow and three children survive him. Probably no one not a fireman was better known to the fire service than was Mr. Brentano, who was greatly interested in the service all his life.
