High Pressure Fire Service System for Salem Salem, Mass., has decided to install a high pressure fire service system. The hydrants, 229 in number, are to be of the Pratt and Cady compression type, in use at present in almost every part of the country. Some of the features of this hydrant, which led to its selection by Salem, are its simplicity and strength, the ease with which the working parts may be removed from the barrel, and the non-necessity for a frost-case. These hydrants are made in two sizes, one with a 4 1/2-inch valve opening and 6-inch inside diameter of barrel, and the other with a 5 ½-inch valve opening and 7-inch inside diameter of barrel.
