Military Academy at Highland Park Partially Destroyed The dormitory building occupied by the Northwestern Military and Naval Academy at Highland Park, Ill., was partially destroyed by fire which was caused by a defective flue and started in the north end of the dormitory. It burned eight hours, the department succeeding in stopping the flames before they reached the offices and ballroom. The fire was discovered by boys and an alarm was sent in at 12.45 p. m. The fire made such rapid headway that when the department, commanded by Chief A. A. Gieser, arrived, the flames had broken through the roof. A portion of the dormitory building besides other buildings in the group remained standing.
