WATER WORKS NEWS ITEMS Pittsfield, Mass., consumed an average of 5,900,000 gallons of water daily during May. The American Society of Mechanical Engincers will meet at Buffalo, N. Y., June 2225. Y., at a special election decided to install a water works system for which bonds for the estimated amount of $40,000 will be issued. The water will be brought to Hilton from Lake Ontario. Street traffic nearby was suspended for several hours, the basements of a score of apartment houses were flooded, sidewalks caved in and building foundations sunk when a fortyeight-inch water main burst in New York, one evening last week. A special election is to be held to-day, June 16, at Oswego, N. Y., on a proposition to issue $35,000 bonds for extensions and improvements to the city water system.
