SOME FEATURES IN NEW YORK DEPARTMENT REPORT The report of Fire Commissioner Robert Adamson, of New York City, for the year 1914, a review of which appeared in FIRE AND WATER ENGINEERING when the commissioner presented the report to the mayor, has now been issued in book form and contains much interesting matter and numerous illustrations. Fire prevention plays a very important part in the report of Fire Commissioner Adamson, of New York City, this year. The section of the fire department report allotted to this subject is profusely illustrated. For instance— there is a drawing done by one of the engineering-inspectors of the Fire Prevention Bureau which illustrates every phase of fire-retarding construction, showing the exterior and the interior of a building, sprinkler and standpine systems, different forms of fire doors, fire escapes and all sorts of fire prevention appliances.
